ElectraNet and AEMO Joint Feasibility Study

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

On 16 February 2010, ElectraNet and the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) announced their intention to conduct a joint feasibility study of transmission development options that could economically increase the interconnector transfer capability between South Australia and other National Electricity Market (NEM) load centres. The study is important in light of South Australia’s extensive renewable energy resources and their ongoing development potential.

ElectraNet and AEMO held a stakeholder forum on Tuesday 20 April 2010 to brief market participants and other interested parties in relation to the joint feasibility study, which is now underway.
